UP, 22 June gives a breakdown of who gets what slice of the piroh.
Iron Lady, Samurai in a Skirt, Gas Princess, et. al says: "You [the Party of Regions] wanted to replace the slogan of the Orange Revolution 'Bandits will sit in jail' with 'Bandits will sit in ministerial chairs.' Nothing will come of it, esteemed friends."
Meanwhile, Russian parliamentarians continue to enforce their views outside of their jurisdiction, including Mad Vlad who is percieved as "ultra-national" but who in reality appeals widely to the mainstream electorate:
Vladimir Zhirinovsky, State Duma deputy speaker and the leader of ultra-national Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, said the Ukranian leadership was "following a path of mistakes." "The more political, Communist mistakes they make, the faster the collapse of Ukraine will occur," he said. "Southwestern Ukraine will become part of Russia again, and western Ukraine will become a small [independent] state, like Poland." Zhirinovsky said he backed the collapse scenario. "I am for a split [of Ukraine]," he said. "So that the Russians live in Russia, and let the Ukrainians live in the Kiev-Lviv region" (RIA Novosti, 21 June).
Yulka will revise the gas deals, just like what Turkmenbashi is doing right now. Turkmenistan has apparently adopted the ultimatum methods of Gazprom to hike gas prices. The Foreign Ministry of the country demanded from Russia's gas monopoly to raise gas prices from $65/ths cu meters to $100/ths cu meters starting from the second half-year. Otherwise, it threatened to stop deliveries to Russia August 1. If Gazprom yields to the price growth, the gas price for Ukraine will go up to between $140/ths cu meters and $150/ths cu meters. But Naftogaz Ukrainy will attempt to cut a direct gas deal next week (Kommersant, 22 June).
